Our Catholic Life

St. Joseph Catholic School recognizes that parents are the primary mover in their child’s faith formation.  We support their work by providing instruction that focuses on the basics of Catholic doctrine and by integrating shared faith experiences in an environment that weaves Christian virtues, values and moral development within academic studies and co-curricular achievement.

As a Catholic school, we place the highest value on our faith and the way it touches every aspect of our lives.  Prayer and religious formation are central to the daily experience at St. Joseph.

• Classes increase understanding thorough study of the Bible, the history of the Catholic Church, liturgy, sacraments and the religious heritage of all people. 
• Kindergarten through middle school students participate in daily classroom prayer and weekly liturgy. 
• Kindergarten through middle school students lead us in morning prayer each day. We also gather to pray as a school community in the gym one Monday each month.
• Faith partners, the backbone of student relationships, unite younger and older students at Mass and other school activities.
• Students participate in masses as readers, cross bearers, altar servers, presenters of gifts and singers.
• Sacramental preparation for first reconciliation and first Eucharist occurs in grade 2 and for Confirmation in the 8th grade. 
• Faith experiences such as the Living Rosary/Rosary Prayer Service, Stations of the Cross, Adoration, May Crowning, retreats and visits from parish priests who engage students to share their faith experiences.
• In order to instill in each of our students a lifelong desire and commitment to helping others, each grade level participates in community service projects driven by local, national and international concerns.

Overall, the goal of our program is to develop within each of our children a moral conscience — a soul — that will help guide them in today’s world.
